The House

Made for golf groups and families.

Butterfly House is a beautifully renovated four-bedroom home overlooking the historic town of St Andrews. Inside, it is open, bright and modern — a fitted kitchen, lounge and dining space flow together at entrance level, with two further bedrooms and en-suite shower rooms above.

Four quality bedrooms — each named for a Scottish Open champion (Lyle, Torrance, Montgomerie, Lawrie) — and six beds in total sleep up to eight. Three bathrooms keep the morning routine painless, whether you are a family with grandparents in tow or a foursome heading out to the first tee. Ample parking on the drive makes arrivals easy.

Outside is where the house really shows off: a private putting green that wraps around the property, a full driving cage for working on your swing, a BBQ gazebo with a bar-height prep area, a big picnic table under an umbrella, and a garden full of games for kids (and competitive adults).

View from Butterfly House at dusk, with the lights of St Andrews in the distance.
Inside the House

Bright, modern and quietly stylish.

Open-plan living and dining at entrance level, four bedrooms named for Scottish Open champions, three bathrooms — everything you need for a relaxed stay.

Your Private Practice Green

Probably the best back garden in St Andrews.

Sharpen your short game before a round at the Old Course, settle group bets on the putting green, or just fire up the BBQ and let the kids loose on the archery and mini hockey. It is that rare holiday let where your golf group might not want to leave.

Private putting green

Wraps the front and side of the house — multiple holes, flagged and marked.

Driving cage

A full practice cage with mat and target — hit real balls without leaving home.

BBQ gazebo

Covered outdoor kitchen with gas grill, prep counter and bar seating for al fresco dinners.

Games for all ages

Badminton, soft archery, mini hockey and a large picnic table under a parasol.

The Area

The home of golf — and so much more.

St Andrews is compact, walkable and packed with character. From the first tee of the Old Course to the ruins of its 12th-century castle, everything of note is a short drive or taxi away.

The Old Course

The home of golf. Tee times, the Swilcan Bridge, and the iconic 18th fairway. The R&A clubhouse and pro shops are on the doorstep.

West Sands Beach

Two miles of open sand made famous by Chariots of Fire. Best at low tide for long walks, kites and sea-gazing.

St Andrews Cathedral & Castle

Ruined 12th-century cathedral with panoramic town views from St Rule's Tower, and a clifftop castle with a mine and counter-mine.

The University & Town

Scotland's oldest university, cobbled streets, independent shops, and a dense cluster of excellent restaurants, pubs and coffee houses.

~4 miles

Crail & the East Neuk

A string of picture-perfect fishing villages — Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem — with harbours, seafood and the famous Anstruther Fish Bar.

45 min drive

Edinburgh

Scotland's capital is an easy day trip across the Forth Bridge — the castle, Royal Mile and Arthur's Seat all in striking distance.
